The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974) - 8/10 - Way better than the remake. Character/story driven and worked a lot better in 1974 than in 2009.

3:10 to Yuma: Loved this movie. been getting into movies with gangs/gangsters from the old times. seriously, Ben Foster is like one of the greatest actors today. the guy is tremendous in every roll he is in. I might make a thread about him soon. 9.5/10
I Love you Man: 9/10. Come on, any movie with the Freaks and Geeks guys and Paul Rudd is a hit with me. |

Observe and Report - 4/10
Not very good. The chasing the flasher scene with an awesome cover of 'Where is My Mind' by City Wolf was pretty good. |

District 9 - 4.5/5
Like most have said, it dragged in the beginning, but got going soon after and never stopped. |

Don't understand the dragged in the beginning comments. To me it was engaging and interesting right off the bat.
I thought the weakest part of the movie was the last 20 minutes. Sure, the action was great but the story kind of broke down. What was brilliant became a bit more average, and the final act didn't really knock it out of the park. I guess I was looking for a more rewarding resolution of some kind. The concepts and characters were interesting and original the whole movie, and the last 20 minutes was just a robot shootout with one twist after another being thrown out. The main character became a bit unlikeable, and a lot of things just didn't come around. I still think it was a great movie. I just was in love with the first 2/3 of that movie and the end let me down a bit. I need to see it again before I can even rate it. Last edited by Jeritron; 08-17-2009 at 08:48 PM. |

Defiance 8/10
An all around good movie, I could nitpick a few points but its not anything too major. Valkyrie 7/10 Ignoring Tom Cruise's personal life, I think he turned in a really good performance, but it will be overshadowed by all the scientology crap. Was disapointing that after the really good opening scene there wasn't a lot of action but there was a good deal of tension despite knowing roughly how the movie would end up playing since it was based on a true story. |

Last House on the Left: 8.5/10
Loved the movie. The last 30 minutes were tremendous. I never saw or even heard of the original, but when a thread was posted here about the remake I was excited to see it. There was one scene I had to skip and you probably know which one I am talking about. I just can't watch shit like that. Like I said, I hadn't seen the original, but I read about it on Wikipedia and that seemed a lot darker. can anybody that has seen both confirm? |

Green Lantern: First Flight - 3/5
It was okay. Hal Jordan's character seemed overly typical, but Sinestro really stood out. A sequel featuring the Sinestro Corps is a must. |

Watching this makes me wish Clooney does a few more action movies than usual. Although I wish Salma Hayek had a much much larger role. |

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. 7/10
I thought this was the worst one out of the three to be honest. Loved the entire series, but this one didn't have as good as a plot. And I thought Tina Turner as the heel was not that good. Road Warrior was my favorite. By the way, WCW took a lot of shit from this movie. It's kind of ridiculous. Saw IV: 8.5/10 Note to self for future Saw movie watches. Watch the last one like a week or so prior to watching the new one. I watched Saw III like 7 months ago and totally forgot what happened. I love these Saw movies though. I think there the most clever written horror series of all-time. How they tie in the previous movies and tie in all the characters is amazing. I liked Saw IV almost as much as the first one. It tied together a lot of backstory and the ending was great. I liked how III and IV virtually happened at the same time at the end. Which brings me to Saw V: 6/10. So I took my advice and rented Saw V last night. I kind of had mixed feelings about this one. I pretty much saw the whole "game" coming for the five people that were trapped. I loved Hoffman's reverse pychology at the end to finish off things. I liked how they showed the backstory of how Jigsaw and Hoffman met and how Jigsaw kept saying "learn the human mind" and how to think ahead and everything, which Hoffman did at the end. But I feel this movie could of been done in Saw IV as it really just seemed like total filler. |

Really Loose Cannon? I'm not the only one who appreciates the Saw series?
Not only that, but I think you rated them a bit too high, especially Saw V. Saw V was just one big flashback and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, happened in present time except Corbitt being found and the ending. Other than that, it was a huge flashback. But the Saw series is one big movie, and Saw V you probably have to watch with Saw IV, or Saw VI when it comes out. Saw II and Saw III go together perfectly, so yeah....I just think Saw V was pretty horrible, the five people story was just an excuse to put traps in the film... Daddy Day Care - 2/10. I didn't like this one..... |

Halloween 2 (the new Rob Zombie one) 3/10
Don't ask me why I saw this. My friend, his brother and me always go see the Halloween, Freddy and Jason movies regardless of how bad they look. It's just kind of something we do. Even when they're awful its still a good time. This movie was so awful though. It was an even bigger mess than Zombie's first one, which was an abortion in it's own right. I can't believe this guy is a director. Just nothing interesting, suspenseful, or entertaining about it. Pointless violence and mayhem with no real characters or respectable plot. It's as though the movies are just incidental. They sort of just happen as a result of him making torture porn, tasteless violence, 70s rock references, and putting his wife on screen for no real reason any chance he gets. SPOILER: show |

6/10, not a bad film but the other one with Vinny Jones in it was way better. |
