Rollins came pretty close to rejoining the Injured Guys stable recently. Managed to avoid getting hit with the Papa Shango curse again.

I dunno, there's something about me seeing guys doing suicide dives with the rail that close to the ring that makes me think "What the fuck actually goes through a wrestler's mind." He was probably thinking about soliciting girls in bars actually.

Punk will be back in wrestling. He's got too much love for it. I'm not entirely sure it will be the WWE. But New Japan, TNA and ROH are all possibilities. And when his in-ring career is done, he'll make a phenomenal commentator.
It's a shame Jeff Hardy is currently doing a comedy gimmick, because Hardy vs. Punk on different turf would draw a heap. |

I'm in the same boat. Had heard a lot about Sabre Jr. but have not been impressed. Ibushi is a bad ass and I could watch him powerbomb people all day.

When he did his podcasts with Colt, he said he watched his wife's segments but that was the only wrestling he was watching. And aside from posting a GIF of him shaking Bryan's hand after he announced his retirement or commenting on a death here and there, he largely hasn't talked about ANYTHING wrestling related until now. I was worried that his passion for the industry was totally dead, which is just a sad state of affairs for anybody who put nearly two decades of their life into it. |

Oh, I have no doubt he was burnt out. And I can imagine not wanting to field the same questions constantly about something I had just left. Punk had other things on his plate and didn't want them diluted by ideas of a return.

I find it interesting that a lot of people aren't that impressed by ZSJ. Who have been the stand-outs for you guys in the tournament? I think I might go back and watch the final first round episode and catch up.

I'm just waiting for the WWE to release a series of stand-up comedy specials. King Kong Bundy, Santino Marella, Mick Foley, William Regal, Colt Cabana once this lawsuit stuff is dropped.

I was kind of non-plussed by Ibushi's first match in the tournament. That being said, I don't think the first round was supposed to blow people away.

Is everybody still assuming Ibushi as winner? I still think that Gran Metalik is the smarter business option. They need a top Hispanic guy and they can't usually book one well, and simply advancing Metalik in the tournament has eliminated a lot of the problems they usually have.
Ibushi is going to be valuable to the company, but they've got Nakamura for the Japanese audience, plus they'll also have Tajiri and Akira Tozawa around. If Metalik loses, I'm just afraid of him becoming "just another guy." Have him win the tournament and be announced as Cruiserweight Champion, tear through a few guys, then have him beat Sin Cara in a Mask vs. Mask Match. Hunico returns to the WWE and attacks Metalik, who insists on defending his title despite an injury, allowing someone like Drew Gulak to take the belt and hold it for a bit. You've set up one babyface and two good heels with that alone. |

I honestly think TJ Perkins is the best choice. He's got the charisma and swagger, and he's quite good on the mic. I feel like if you're introducing the cruiserweight division to raw, you want a guy who can speak. Like, it's fine if you want Ibushi or Metalik as champ later, but I think they need someone who can speak to the audience as champ from the start, to help gwt the division over. And perkins is every bit as good in the ring as the other three.

That's a fair case. I think my big concern is that once Metalik is painted as a runner-up, he's done. TJ Perkins being able to talk is a good reason for him to lose. He can put over how the right cruiserweight legends went over. He can put over a program he is in away from the belt.
Is he still getting booed? I'd follow that and give him this full entourage of guys that accompany him to the ring. They're all in black and he's in a white hoodie or something. Basically present him how they presented Floyd Mayweather in his feud with Big Show. I guess that's sort of a champion's presentation, but I think it can get over away from the belt. I kind of want a deranged Kendrick vs. Ibushi feud. "You beat me but didn't win the entire thing?" kind of motivation for Kendrick. |

Listening to Dutch Mantel on the Jim Cornette Experience. Worth a listen to. He doesn't really go too in-depth, but he does explain how he booked Puerto Rico and some interesting anecdotes about TNA.

My favorite thus far is Dutch walking in on two guys talking to Kong and giving her some advice. Dutch pulls them up and asks them what they're doing and they say "We're trying to teach her how to work," or something, and Dutch tells them "She could teach you a thing or two -- like how to draw some fucking money."

On RAW, wouldn't it make sense for Kevin Owens to throw the match with Reigns? A Triple Threat would be a better tactical approach for Owens, because he can pull in Chris Jericho and Triple H to help him out -- that's if Rollins and Reigns don't destroy each other in the first place?
It's the sort of cute booking I don't like, but that's the hazard of teasing this Triple Threat in the first place. If Owens had just won the belt cleanly and been targeted by Reigns, all these problems would be non-existent. Or if they had brought Rollins back as a babyface, he had won the WWE World Title and the new sets of belts were all created on SmackDown. |

Instead of doing The Usos vs. The Hype Bros, cannibalizing one of the other few tag team combinations they have left, why not do a Triple Threat Tag Team Elimination Match at Backlash? The Hype Bros can go first and then Slater & Rhyno can have the dramatic final heat sequence with The Usos.

Actually, thinking about it some more -- I'm guessing The Usos win and then injure Heath Slater backstage. Slater hobbles down to the ring and sells, sells, sells. There's a hot tag, Rhyno cleans house, but gets overzealous on a Gore and is pinned. That one solves itself.
I'm not sure who should win the Women's Title. I can make a case for Becky, Nattie and Naomi. Becky would get the biggest pop and biggest emotional investment from the crowd, but there's something to be said for "poor booking" her to babyface success. Nikki is going to be fucking resented if she wins the belt, but that could be good? Nattie winning would just be a "thank you for putting up with the bullshit" achievement, and she can get a nice little run as Becky and Nikki compete to get over. Fuck it, there's a part of me that just wants to give it to Nikki as a "fuck you" to the world and see how much heat you can put on her. I'm also wondering if they might be best off having Dolph win the IC Title too. I mean, he really gets nothing from winning it at this point, other than something to grind into the dirt to stop himself from plummeting right down the card, but The Miz is in a position right now where people will actually care if he loses the belt and does something. Whether it's just yelling at Bryan, leading to Shane stepping in or a new talent being brought up, or some sort of "open challenge" gimmick from Miz over the next few weeks. He might be more entertaining without the belt than with it. How does everybody feel about the AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler Title for Title Match I proposed somewhere on here? Dolph would win the IC Title and then cut a promo on SmackDown about how this was a stepping stone to bigger and better things for many great stars of the past, but how many times can Dolph Ziggler win and lose this championship? He needs to be THE man. He agrees to put it on the line against AJ Styles at No Mercy in exchange for a World Title shot. Is Jasper Orton still under contract with the company? He's probably nowhere near ready for a sustained role, but he could be used in this Orton/Wyatt stuff somehow. |

Gran metallik is just so fucking smooth, I like him. I also think it's smart to focus on a masked Lucha star for the cruiser division. I figured that would go to Kallisto but he may be too WWEized.
Ibushi has been great in each match and I think his style will get over instantly. He also brings such an easy built in gimmick of being the Japanese kick master. I see him getting over easy with casual fans. I haven't dug Perkins, I don't know why, I do like his submissions and how he transitions into them. And he has a gimmick more so than a lot of guys just being "a guy with cool moves" but he hasn't done much for me yet. I think he will grow on me. Gargano won me over. I love him as Johnny Wrestling the hard working Indy guy that made it big, tough as nails and ready to fight. Ciampa to a lesser degree. Tozawa could be the top cruiser heel no doubt, great charisma. Just being the wwe I think it will be hard to keep two Japanese guys over but if Ibushi isn't full time Tozawa could be and be the top heel. Jack Gallagher was good but I don't know if his style will ran slate to the casual fan. Cedric Alexander and rich swan are stars. |

I can kind of agree with that entire summary from what I've seen. I really want Gargano & Ciampa to remain a tag team away from the cruiser scene though.

Feel like the Raw Cruiserweight division is going to be a huge letdown compared to the CWC. You.Can tell they are giving the freedom in this tournament that they just won't get on Raw. Once it starts it will just be the same old over produced stuff that the rest the roster deals with.

Just let them wrestle without promos or stories. It might even help make Braun coming out for Squashes a bigger deal when he they roll out a big hullabaloo when he Wrestles after a straight forward cruiser match without much production |

I know it would rule out a bunch of tag teams on Raw. But New Day and the Club on Smackdown makes so much more sense and the WWE could seriously cut some teams and no one would care if they refilled with Cruisers. Sabre and Dar Gargano and Ciampa Cedric and Swann Tozawa and Kendrick |

Wait I jsut read Sabre and Ibushi wont be sticking around but Dar will.
I guess the cruisers are currently Johnny Gargano-Tommaso Ciampa-Brian Kendrick-Rich Swann-Noam Dar-TJ Perkins-Cedric Alexander-Akira Tozawa-Jack Gallagher-Gran Metalik Have Metalik with the tourney and turn Perkins heel. Let them fight for the first Cruiser title. or the CWC cup or whatever gimmick you want. On the side Kendrick and Tozawa Heel out against DIY. Two nice cruiserfeuds to start. let Cedric, Swann, Jack have good matches ( idont dig Noam much either) in the background without a story until their time comes. |

I didn't really see anything in Noam Dar until his match with Sabre. I thought he was pretty good there. I can see an upside.
Sucks about Ibushi, but I really won't miss Sabre all that much. Sounds like a good division, though. Comparable at very least to WCW's cruisers in their heyday. Unrelated note, I enjoy matches from both Nakamura and Asuka, but they should NEVER be allowed to talk. Takes a lot away from them, I feel. |

Ibushi is smart. Cruiserweight division will not be anything like the CWC once they move up to the main roster. Will just be the same 50/50 booking and probably ruin everything good about their characters, especially Jack Gallagher.
