Another thing is Bryan's fans. They are a bunch of babies. Hated WM 30 as the fans cried because Bryan was eliminated from the Rumble. Was way more interested in seeing Orton vs Batista than the shit they put on. Bryan going over all of Evolution in one night just wasn't believable to me. I'd say his fans are one of the main reason I dislike the guy.

DJ at the club I'm at has a Booty O'S shirt and I've got my New Day Rocks vintage shirt on... Plus it's officially my birthday, so I've had anything I like on. Good times.

Orton vs. Batista was a horrible idea though, and you just are plain wrong about that. Sorry. |

Counterpoint:
Kevin Owens is the spiritual successor to Steve Austin, and will be over as fuck if he eventually turns face. He is the real "every man." He doesn't look like an athlete, he's not "larger than life," but he has a smart ass, sarcastic attitude. And it's the type of attitude that isn't typical for a bully, but the type of attitude that the smart ass who is used to being picked on has, so he says sarcastic shit dryly. Plus he has a goofy best friend who he fights with, and another best friend who really isn't his friend. People want Rollins vs HHH, but Owens vs HHH is so much more compelling. There are just very few people on the roster who can connect to the people at a base level like KO can. |

Found out I have axs tv channel. Set up series recording for New Japan pro. Watched a show last night that featured Anderson and Gallows in the main event dropping the tag belts.
Enjoyed what I saw. Enjoyed the press conference post match promo style as well. Jim Ross was meh on commentary. Sounded like he was phoning it in. But the product itself was fun. Hoping I'll catch on to it. |

Drat. Hopefully I'll run into it since I have it set to record the series. Yeah. I was sure he was calling matches that happened months ago. But fuck, where's the old JR?
Gallows and Anderson's opponents were being put over as a journeyman team with one of the guys being 39, and being a career loveable loser. JR was flat as fuck when they pulled off a seeming upset. But I don't wanna focus on the meh commentary. The matches, the set up, and the storylines mentioned going into the matches were fun and fresh. Really strong first impression. |

It'll be interesting to see if he does connect. I think he connects with the geeks that eat this shit up -- perhaps too much of it without asking questions. They did that market research on the appeal certain talent had, and Owens tested really low. I don't know how much stock you want to put into shit like that, but I sometimes do wonder if there's really that mainstream appeal in him that we project. I once heard someone (I guess you could call them a "casual fan," if you want to go that far with it) respond to Owens as a "like a joke wrestler" because he's the opposite of what you think of when you think of a wrestler. I'd never thought of it exactly like that, but it is somewhat true to an almost exact degree: * He's not loud and bombastic; he's calculated and articulate. * He's not tall and ripped; he's short and fat. * He doesn't get oiled up and wear tights; he covers himself up in baggy clothes. * He doesn't look like he's getting into a real fight; he does this outrageous stunt display. In a weird sort of way, I can kind of see how a casual fan might interpret Owens to be a parody of wrestling. We obviously don't think like that, because we're in the thick of things. I do think that I'd rather see him as a face than a heel though. Roman Reigns needs that heel turn, and if he robbed Owens of the Uni Title and Owens had to fight against the system that chewed him up and spat him out, we might be onto something. |

I've always been of the opinion that it doesn't matter what a character looks like, it's how you use them that counts. IMHO Owens has plenty of potential to be a star. The issue is with the storytelling and context in which he is portrayed.
WWE has guys who look and "feel" like megastars, but they never reached it (see Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, etc.) The reason for this has nothing to do with the guys themselves and everything to do with the way WWE presented them. Bray isn't a mega-heel right now because WWE had him lose pretty much every feud he's been in and in general made him look like a joke. And in the case of both Reigns and Wyatt they screwed up by giving neither compelling stories to help fans get behind what was going on. If Undertaker had lost 90% of his matches and was made to look like I liar every time he said something scary would he have succeeded? No. If Austin hadn't had the attitude and aggression he did and instead just made childish jokes and smiled, and if he hadn't had the McMahon stuff and all the other rivalries we remember would he have gotten over like he did? I don't think so personally. You look at TV today and you see a lot of top shows involving characters that aren't what you'd typically think would appeal to the mass market. Nerdy, quirky, geeky, these are things that have become extremely appealing in mass media over the last few years, and I think WWE needs to evolve and embrace these things if they want to survive. Comics have begun to embrace this with more and more characters becoming more lighthearted and "geeky" and less being badasses who are "dark and brooding" like they were in the 80s and 90s, and the result of this shift has been increased sales in comic books to a point they haven't been in ages. TV has also begun to see a shift toward this with fewer super serious characters and more lighthearted and relateable ones. Anyway that's just my two cents. Personally I think if WWE just got their shit together and created stories people actually cared about it wouldn't matter what their wrestlers looked like (within reason of course.) I'm not saying Kevin shouldn't get a slight makeover as his current ring gear looks a little cheap, but he doesn't need to completely change himself in my opinion. |

I think look does matter. It's not the be-all, end-all, but it's not irrelevant. How you use it is definitely important.

I agree with Noid. Owens doesn't have to get shredded but the least he could do is trim up so his belly doesn't stick out further than his chest.
I guess I'd want him to look like he actually works out. |

Creatively, I think leaving would be the best thing for Ziggler. There's just nothing fresh for him to do. If he's a free talent, I'd like to see him ROH/New Japan. I think he'd be a good choice to dethrone Adam Cole for when Cole gets signed to the WWE.
But I have a feeling the WWE will either turn this into an angle or sign Ziggler to some sort of no-compete deal where he still works for the company and gets to do his comedy and approved independent dates. |
