Yeah Waltman is very supportive of all wrestling. Tries his best to be an "uncle" type character. Not "in him" to be sarcastic against other workers' success.

There's a difference between doing great as the top babyface with what you're given to work with and the limitations placed upon you, and actually being a great top babyface.
Are we sure they're not referring to the former re: Reigns? I would agree with the former. He is doing "great" as the top babyface relative to the situation he's in and the limitations he has to deal with. That doesn't actually make him a great top babyface though. |

Edge lost me with his comments re: Jinder Mahal. Edge stated in a blunt, matter-of-fact way that "he has heat, okay?" No, he didn't. That was evident. Edge was just towing company line or whatever. Or younger guys (feels weird calling Edge a younger guy) just think heat are smatterings of boos from shrinking crowds. |

Who cares. From their perspective, they have sold the tickets. It would be stupid to give away money to some cash hog star to beef up the card. Cody and Nick can headline and sprinkle The Bucks, Omega, and Okada throughout and you'll have a dope show.

If I got a ticket I'd be selling it asap after getting told the main event is Cody vs. Magnus

Treat it like it means something or not I still have no interest in Cody vs. Magnus and can't believe anyone else does either.

Who the fuck would buy tickets to a show Cody is putting together and not want to see him in a big match? Gtfo.

It's not so much him vs Magnus as it is him challenging for the NWA title. Which might not mean much anymore in general but given the history and its link to the Rhodes name, it's a pretty big deal for the old school marks/Cody fans that will be at the show.

I think the match will be good. Both are solid workers and I don't see Cody stinking it up for this show. Aldis has been doing good work with the NWA as well.

Maybe he's improved but I just remember AJ Styles' last TNA match was with Magnus and was the drizzling shits. And haven't heard of one performance of his since then that's been worthwhile. If AJ Styles can't drag something good outta Magnus what can Cody Rhodes do?

What was worse was how Magnus won the title in the Dixieland Match. The guy is talented and was being built up well before they actually put the title on him in a horrid match. TNA did him no favors once they did go with him and is probably one of the reasons he left. |

Well if you wanna go on about the interference being too much then how about the Magnus-Samoa Joe feud? That's normally used as Magnus' best work in TNA but was mediocre at best. Now we're supposed to think he's gonna tear the house down with Cody Rhodes?

Just from memory Magnus's work with Sting stuck out with me the most. I think they worked to get her after the Joe/Magnus fued. I don't think Aldis and Cody are meant to tear the house down though. They've got guys like Okada, Omega, Pentagon, and the Bucks who will probably fill that part of the show. It being Cody's show though only makes sense to throw him in the main event with the resurgence of the NWA title. As far as the match goes I could see some type of twist occurring though.

Has it? This is a step in the right direction, especially if they give it to Cody and let him defend it in higher profile matches. All I've seen so far though is that Magnus won it from that old-as-dirt nobody and has since defended it against James Ellsworth. Also it got defended in CZW while the crowd shit on the match because no one got hit with a light bulb wrapped in barbed wire and set on fire.

I think it's really sweet what Corgan is trying to do with the NWA Title. A guy that means something can make the belt mean something. There are plenty of examples where belts have mattered more or less because you care or you don't. I think he's fighting an uphill battle in the sense that it's so dependent on nostalgia instead of modern relevancy, and it comes attached with all these memories of TNA, being thrown on the ground, being put onto guys that don't exactly have big stateside profiles, etc.
I want to get behind it, and I want it to work, and it's really quirky that Cody is going to make it the biggest part of this show, but it's also the NWA Title being defended in a match between Cody Rhodes and Brutus Magnus. But I guess you've got to try. I can see the match being quite underwhelming. I hope Austin Idol turns on Magnus and aligns himself with Cody. Idol and Cody together could be entertaining. |
