According to Cody, AEW's planned 2nd show won't be on TNT and instead on a different WarnerMedia network.

If I had to guess, its probably going to be TBS since they don't have as strong of a sports commitment that TNT has. TBS mostly just airs MLB Playoffs and NCAA Men's Basketball tournament games. TNT airs those plus regular season NBA games and also soccer games.

I was thinking the other day with Peacock offering WWE content, I could surely see AEW content ending up on HBO Max. Not sure if they would go the weekly show route, but if they did it would be a real way to gauge how many wrestling fans who do not already subscribe would sign up to not miss the show.

Down the line, maybe even as soon as when both WWE's and AEW's current TV deals are up, they might have a more lucrative offer from streaming services over traditional TV.

The way things are going with consumer preferences and all the big media companies reshuffling their business models toward a streaming, it certainly seems a likely scenario.

Yeah could see AEW content be available on HBO Max in the future and in tandem with their current offerings on BR Live and FITE TV.

Take a page out of MLW's playbook by trying to get their content on as many services as possible to better future proof themselves in the changing TV industry.

I don’t know how that didn’t kill him. Although he did end up killing himself many years later. Probably motivated at least in part by some head trauma. So I guess you could say it was a lingering injury.

When was the last show you watch, All Out 2020?

If so, the Parking Lot Brawl between Best Friends and Santana & Ortiz was arguably the best match since then.

To be fair a bit, WWE's recent tv contracts in the UK have been pretty bad in terms of network reach which shouldn't be the case for a company of their size and status. The new one with BT Sport is a step backwards from their prior contract with Sky Sports in terms of home coverage.

Even TNA/Impact regularly does better than WWE despite their recent struggles in the US simply because the networks carrying them have a better reach and better time spot for their shows.

AEW managing to get ITV right from the start gave them a huge advantage over NXT and WWE's other shows in general. Even in Canada, AEW regularly gets better numbers than NXT because of how NXT is treated over there.

Think even ROH might have done better numbers than WWE in the UK until recently.

WWE Network is available in China, how many views does AEW get in China? Oh zero, well I guess no congratulatory pat on back tweets there, poor AEW.

What about YouTube views in India? How is AEW doing over there?

Yeah it is, and I disagreed with him. Its certainly not a big deal from my standpoint. AEW is consistently good. WWE is mostly stupid, illogical, and bad, but they also occasionally hit great. Most times they screw up the great the have going, which is the most frustrating thing about WWE to me, but that doesn't change the fact that the fact that they hit the high point of the peek.

Drew McIntyre had an incredible build to become champion. Compare that to Moxley getting a spike in his eye and stealing cars. It's just not at the same level.

It depends what you want from the channel.
AEW and Impact are sacrificing money to be on Freeview to reach a far wider audience.
WWE is just signing huge contracts wherever and whenever they can.

So it's money Vs coverage at its most basic.

If AEW do those numbers for much longer then Sky or some other big pay service will sign them up for a big deal.
Unless Tony Khan is just all about playing fantasy boss, in which case he may see big numbers on free TV as a win.

I mean they must get huge advertising deals at least.

Guess that confirms Johnson signed a contract recently and got elevated from jobber status like a couple of others from AEW Dark recently.

AEW Dark has been sort of like a hybrid of classic WWF Superstars and a developmental-like show for AEW ever since they went in that direction during the coronavirus pandemic. The shows themselves are still very hit-or-miss in terms of overall quality, especially the longer episodes. This week's episode was the best one so far of the pandemic era but also ran almost as long as WWE RAW does.
