He doesn’t have that rep box under his rep bar. I assumed that meant he was banned.
A huge blow to the anti-AEW boyz if that’s the case! |

WWE should have run only 1 PPV that year. It would have drawn 6,194,000 on PPV and shattered the record.
Undeniable fact based on math. |

id argue that fewer super cards would lead to larger buy rates. over saturation is def a thing. likewise 7 hours of tv a week or whatever leads an audience to very ok with missing a show but if lets say they had 2 a month? must see tv. less money obviously but strictly speaking for raw numbers on single night viewers the more rare the occasion the higher the turn out should be.
if aew ran 12 ppvs a year i bet theyd lose viewers not gain them. likewise if the wwf did weekly ppvs their buyrates would tank. |

to the same point aew expanding to 2 shows a week this early seems like a huge blunder to me but seeing as they need the money i understand but i feel like it puts the brand in a really bad spot. too much too soon. its like going into a restruant that has 4 items on the menu. you know those 4 dishes are going to be excellent. beyond excellent. sublime. start expanding that menu and next thing you know your carefully curated menu, that youre an expert in making, is suddenly just things that are edible.

At some point I see AEW going to 6 PPVs and I think that will be the sweet spot.

no no i get what youre driving at my point is at some level quanity is a factor. i agree its far from 1:1 though. however if the wwf were to have 4 ppvs a year i bet theyd get huge numbers comparatively to what they get with the current format. id wager each of the 4 would be wrestlemania esqu if built even half decent

but i def agree thats its absolutely not reasonable to imply that each veiwer is only watching 1 ppv a year and by going to 1 annual show you have some outlandish viewership which his math would suggest if taken literally

(but i don't think that was the implication either)
of course aews singular goal should be how can they get their own audience to purchase the ppvs. 200k+ is roughly 1/5 (depending on the night) of their tv audience. how do they get the other 80% of their fans to buy the big shows is the question they should be asking. |

obviously a star is the smart play but also giving away less for free so frequently is another.

I like 4. 3 months is a good length to build anticipation. But especially with the 2 TV shows I feel like they’ll eventually run into the issue of having to over expose feuds and needing to get to that PPV payoff sooner. I’m surprised I haven’t heard about that issue happening more already.

Just say 205,000 buys is AEW's best showing, all the other extra dressing to make it seem bigger than it is are unnecessary. |

if it takes you 12 weeks to get x and it takes me 4 weeks to match x and i can repeat that consistently we arent in the same league. at all. i dont think aew could draw 205k monthly buys so saying its apples to apples is a bad take.
however in 3 years...couple of big names either made or bought...maybe we're having a different conversation. the rapid success of aew is fan driven despite kahns bankroll. this snow ball could very easily keep rolling. |

I don’t even think a monthly PPV schedule would be bad. It would focus their aimless television more. Plus a lot of the same nerds would buy it. It would probably be more profitable.

Monthly PPV's don't feel "special" and feels like most matches you see on weekly television.
Even "The Big 4" don't feel special anymore, really. |

Its understandable with the war coverage on news stations like CNN, Fox and MSNBC that the ratings are a bit lower!

Just imagining all those people in 2022 who desperately wanted to watch Dynamite but just couldn’t because there was no possible way for them to keep up with the news other than watching cable from 8-10pm on Wednesday.

Holy shit at 945k even with a post-PPV bump. Could it just be that this company isn’t in touch?

The Hardys fucking tanked. Massive drop of about 100k people for their segment. This followed the absolutely asinine booking of Sky vs. Wardlow too.
