Apparently the main reason Dusty's son Dustin Rhodes took the Goldust gimmick was him not realizing what the word androgynous meant. He was willing to take any gimmick presented to him after leaving WCW and regretted the decision after he looked up the word in a dictionary afterwards.

I'll give this a try' because I really wanted to try to do something on my own other than the Dustin Rhodes name, try to accomplish something that is fresh and new and then go from there and see if I could do that." Goldust added, "opened up the dictionary and looked to see what 'androgynous' was and I just shook my head. I'm like, 'well, I can't back out now - let's go and just give it my all.'"

That's actually a bit of a revelation. I think a portrait has been painted of Goldust as a guy who was willing to say "yes" to pretty much everything. I mean, he was still a trooper, but the idea that he only accepted because he wasn't sure what it was is pretty funny.

It'd be fun for Becky. I dunno, I just don't see women's wrestling in the WWE getting really good. WWE recently released a new photo shoot meant to be a celebration of Kane but someone really goofed up with this. Not sure how Natty with cat ears is somehow celebrating Kane.

Apparently the Observer's Dave Meltzer spent part of yesterday contacting people he knows in the WWE that normally defend all of Vince's booking decisions to get an idea why Kane squashed Balor on RAW.

Turns out nobody had any good idea why it was done and likely just another spontaneous decision by Vince who felt like having a Kane squash match and picked Balor only because he could.

Yeah, probably just a Vince whim. In his mind it may have made Kane look better than it made Balor look worse. Part of me thinks that maybe the "too sweet" recognition at TLC didn't help.

Random question: Sean Mooney was doing a podcast with Hacksaw Jim Duggan recently. I never listened to it, but just recently I noticed that Duggan's not in any of its advertising. Did he drop out? What is the story there?

When he dialed back the ridiculous shtick, Duggan actually impressed me on one of those panel shows the WWE did one time. I think it may have been for a Royal Rumble because he won the first. I wouldn't mind him being given a trial as a commentator for Main Event or something.
