Seanny, do you think Adam Sandler would've made for a better "Officer K" in Blade Runner 2049?

Uggggggggggggggggggggggggh.
I know this has been in production hell for a while. But the cast doesn't jive with me. |

I actually thought the same to be honest. I'm just hoping they get the story and characters right though. I don't care who they use if it turns out well.
But I already feel like Chalamet was a really bad choice. Not my cup of tea at all. |

I've had this Rebecca Furgerson boner for 12 hours now. I might need to call a Doctor.

Why does Zendaya's facial expression never seem to change no matter what role she gets shoehorned into? I want to stop not liking her but I roll my eyes everytime I see her mentioned in a cast.

I've never read the books or even seen the previous film, but this director is batting 100% with me, so I'll check this out.

Arrival was a spectacularly nasty piece of shite but everything else that I have seen has been excellent.
I thought Prisoners was probably his best film, Sicario also excellent. Much better use of the director's amorality. |

Denis Villeneuve is a sociopath but Arrival was particularly cruel and I was amazed that the critics completely missed how fucked up the behaviour in that film actually is.
It's a disgusting little glimpse into the mind of a man with no compassion. |

Keep wondering if it's too late to recast people and start over.
They pulled it off with All The Money In The World. |

They nailed Pieter De Vries anyway.
I still think Steve Buscemi should have campaigned for that role though. |

I formulate my opinions based on the actual film, not the reception it receives.
That's why my opinion is usually different to other, lesser posters. |

Arrival is a completely mad film.
I think I gave my copy away but I might try to watch it again to make sure it is still sick b.s from a wrong 'un. |

Seems okay so far.
However, I have an unread copy of the book somewhere in my house, I don't remember much about the original outisde of mom watching it whenever she got the chance and that Sting and Patrick Stewart were in it (and he's literally like that meme about Morgan Freeman always having been an old man), and I remember absolutely nothing about the previous remake that happened around 1999-2000ish even though I know I've seen it with mom once. I prob'ly should go back and find the OG movie for a fairer comparison at some point. |

The Lynch version is dark but camp and it doesn’t have time to make as much sense as this one. This one is Dune finally.

Yeah. I just watched the old version for the first time in years. I remember turning it off when I saw it years ago because I had no idea what was going on.
There's a clear point in the old where everything falls off the rails which is interesting because that's where the new one ends. After that everything is massively rushed and chaotic. |

It was so good; I want the second part, now.
She didn't have much screen time in the first part, but I think Zendaya will end-up being the weak link; I just wasn't feeling it in those final 10-15 mins of the film. My only complaint is that once Duke Leto was dead and the Harkonnens had taken back Arrakis, I was pretty much distracted for the remainder of the film by the anticipation of it coming to an end. Though, now that I know how this part ends, I won't have that issue when I watch it again in the future. Last edited by El Vaquero de Infierno; 11-11-2021 at 06:10 PM. |

Quote:
Aye, they go with an epic opening and then cram what should be an action packed build towards the grand finale into about forty minutes of screen time. I might be wrong about the exact duration but in my mind it is just montages of desert, freemen, worms and battles with some voice over and then it just sort of hops into a knife fight with Sting and ends when a creepy child shows up. Judging by the quality of this new one, I can only imagine how much funky shit we are about to get hit with in part 2. |

Spiceworld should really be a Dune film in retrospect.
I wonder if there would be any weird parallels that could create a decent conspiracy out of this... |
